What a fantastic week for our Year 10s. This week, every student took part in a mock interview with a local employer, and they absolutely shone.

Over the past few weeks, students have been preparing in their English lessons, as well as taking part in an assembly focused on how to present themselves confidently and professionally. Their hard work truly paid off, with students arriving smart, focused, and ready to make a strong impression.

Mock interviews are an incredibly valuable experience. They help students build confidence, develop communication skills, and gain a real insight into what employers look for during the recruitment process. For many, it was their first ever interview, and the sense of achievement afterwards was clear to see.

We were delighted to welcome a fantastic group of employers and volunteers who generously gave their time to support our students. We would like to extend a huge thank you to representatives from:

DWP, T2K, Ultima Skills, Preston College, Myerscough College, LMC, BAE Systems, Lloyds Bank, Blackpool & The Fylde College, HSBC, Alexander Dennis, Murphy’s, EDF, Forbes, Garstang Soroptimists, Morecambe Offshore Windfarm, and Newman College.

Their expertise, encouragement, and constructive feedback made the experience truly meaningful for our students.

One of our visiting volunteers commented: “The students I met were amazing – polite, friendly, professional and happy to talk and show their amazing characters.”

Another employer added: “Every student I met this week was polite, enthusiastic, and fully engaged. They were a credit to the school.”

Our students also reflected on the experience. One Year 10 student shared: “I was really nervous before I went in, but once I started talking, I felt much more confident. The feedback I got was really helpful, and I’m proud of how it went.”

It was wonderful to see initial nerves turn into relief and pride as students received their feedback. The positive buzz around school afterwards showed just how much the experience meant to them.

Well done, Year 10 - you should be extremely proud of yourselves. You showed our volunteers what amazing young people you truly are.
