Our Year 9 students enjoyed a fantastic workplace visit to Garstang Community Primary School this week, and it proved to be an inspiring and memorable experience for everyone involved. The visit was arranged for a group of students who have expressed an interest in exploring careers linked to childcare, early years education, and primary teaching.
The morning began with a warm welcome from the Headteacher, who met with our students to discuss the wide range of career paths available within primary and nursery education. This introduction gave them valuable insight into the different roles that support children’s learning and development, helping them understand the breadth of opportunities within the sector.
Following this, students had the opportunity to observe classroom routines, interact with the children, and take part in a range of supervised activities. These included supporting small group tasks, helping with creative work, and engaging in play-based learning. It was wonderful to see our students embrace the experience with such enthusiasm, confidence, and maturity.
Staff at Garstang Community Primary School were full of praise for our students, commenting on how well they engaged with the children and how naturally they adapted to the school environment. Their positive attitude and willingness to get involved made a strong impression.
The visit also helped students reflect on their future aspirations. One student shared that she had been considering a career in primary teaching, and this experience has reinforced her ambition. Others have now set themselves personal targets to seek additional work experience in childcare or education settings, recognising the value this will bring as they prepare for future college and university applications.
We would like to extend a big thank you to the staff at Garstang Community Primary School for welcoming our students so warmly and providing such a valuable learning experience. Their support and encouragement made the visit truly meaningful.
The morning was a great success and provided our students with valuable insight into the world of work. We are proud of how they represented the school and look forward to supporting them as they continue to explore their career pathways.
