Today, half of our Year 10 students participated in an engaging and practical ‘College Life’ session delivered by visiting representatives from Preston College.
Designed to support students as they begin thinking about their post-16 options, the interactive workshop gave students a clear insight into what life after Year 11 looks like. During the session, students explored:
- Life Beyond School: How the daily college routine, independence, and environment differ from secondary school.
- Academic & Vocational Options: The wide variety of subjects, qualifications, and pathways available.
- Campus Life: An overview of college facilities and extra-curricular enrichment opportunities.
- Future Preparation: Key steps students can take over the next two years to prepare for a smooth transition.
Value for Every Student
Importantly, no matter which college, sixth form, or training provider a student is considering for their future, the session provided immense value for everyone. The practical guidance on post-16 preparation and decision-making made a real impact, helping all participating Year 10s feel more confident about their upcoming choices.
What Our Students Said:
"I really liked getting to see what a college looks like and getting a feel for the campus."
"It was great to learn about everything college has to offer and see all the different options."
"It helped me understand what you can actually do after school."
Looking Ahead:
For students who did not attend today's session, Preston College will be returning after half term to deliver the workshop to the remaining half of the Year 10 cohort.
We extend our sincere thanks to Preston College for inspiring our students and supporting their career journeys!
