To celebrate International Women’s Day, ten of our Year 10 girls were invited to take part in an inspiring and empowering full‑day programme at Blackpool Sixth Form. The event brought together young women from across the area to explore their ambitions, build confidence, and reflect on the influential women who have shaped their lives and the wider world.

Throughout the day, our students engaged in a series of dynamic workshops designed to broaden their horizons, challenge their thinking, and strengthen key personal and interpersonal skills. These sessions encouraged them to step outside their comfort zones, collaborate with peers, and consider the values and aspirations that will guide their futures.

Workshops included:

  • Careers in Engineering
  • Empowering Success Through Values, Beliefs and Vision
  • Elevate & Dominate
  • Sexual Health Choices and Care
  • Blackpool Researching Together

Skills Developed

Across the day, our students strengthened a wide range of valuable skills, including:

  • Confidence and self‑advocacy
  • Leadership and teamwork
  • Critical thinking and problem‑solving
  • Communication and presentation
  • Self‑reflection and goal‑setting
  • Awareness of career pathways and future opportunities

A Proud Moment for GCA

We were especially proud to see former GCA pupil Erin helping to organise the event as part of the Social Action Group at Blackpool Sixth Form. Erin’s commitment, leadership, and passion for empowering young women were evident throughout the day, and it was wonderful for our students to see a familiar face making such a positive impact.

The event was a powerful reminder of the strength, ambition, and potential of young women in our community. Our Year 10 girls returned inspired, motivated, and ready to continue shaping their own futures with confidence and purpose.
