Today Year 11 students had the exciting opportunity to hear directly from representatives of BAE Systems, one of the UK’s leading defence and aerospace companies. The session focused on the wide range of apprenticeship pathways available to students after Year 11 (Post-16) and Year 13 (Post-18), offering a valuable glimpse into future career possibilities.

Skills and Entry Requirements

BAE Systems highlighted the key skills they look for in applicants, including:

  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities
  • A keen interest in engineering, technology, or manufacturing
  • Problem-solving and analytical thinking
  • Commitment to learning and professional development

Entry requirements vary depending on the apprenticeship level, but generally include:

  • GCSEs in English, Maths, and Science for Post-16 roles
  • A-levels or equivalent qualifications for higher-level Post-18 apprenticeships
