Our Year 7 students embarked on an insightful and inspiring journey with the "Learn to Earn" activity, a highly impactful program delivered by Young Enterprise, a UK's charity for enterprise and financial education. The initiative, packed with engaging scenarios and interactive tasks, encouraged students to look beyond the classroom and envision their personal and professional aspirations.
Through Young Enterprise's proven methodology and engaging activities, students were challenged to:
Define Success on Their Own Terms: Reflecting on their unique strengths and preferences, students explored what personal success truly means to them, laying the groundwork for a future built on their individual passions.
Master the Art of Budgeting: In a practical and relatable exercise, students delved into the realistic costs of living. They learned to calculate and balance budgets, understanding the value of money and the importance of responsible financial habits from an early age.
Dream Big and Plan Smart: From ambitious job roles to diverse career paths, students were exposed to a wide spectrum of possibilities. They learned how to make informed decisions about their career and lifestyle choices, understanding the impact of their present choices on their future.
Navigate Future Pathways: The program shed light on various progression options, including the benefits of apprenticeships, further education, and vocational training.
Build Essential Life Skills: Students gained valuable insights into the skills necessary for successful transitions, whether to secondary school, higher education, or the world of work. They also learned about employer expectations, preparing them for future interactions.
“I learnt how to budget, and also how to set realistic goals for myself that I will be able to achieve. I have also learnt a wide variety of jobs to keep in mind for my future.” (Student Comment)
By fostering financial literacy, encouraging thoughtful career exploration, and instilling the power of goal setting, we are confident that our Year 7 students are now better equipped to make informed decisions and confidently navigate the exciting journey ahead. The future looks bright for these budding professionals and financially aware individuals, thanks to the dedicated support of Young Enterprise!
