We are very proud of Year 11 student Abi who has been appointed as a National Young Golf Ambassador - please read her article below:

I recently applied to England Golf and the Golf Foundation for a role as a National Young Ambassador.  After being shortlisted I was invited to attend an assessment day at Hatchford Brook Golf Club in Birmingham, along with 35 other candidates.  We had been asked to prepare a 3 minute presentation on a subject that we are passionate about - I chose mental health.  In addition to presenting out topic, we also did a group activity based on the tv show Dragons Den.  Throughout the afternoon we were being continually assessed on how well we worked both individually and as part of a team.

It was a fantastic afternoon where I met lots of new people and gained new skills.  A couple of days later I received an email telling me that I had been successful, and offering me a role as one of 8 National Young Ambassadors.  Working together some of our responsibilities will include: giving talks in local schools and the community to encourage young people to try golf; attend national events to inspire other young people to volunteer in golf and to be a role model and mentor for other young people.  I am really happy to have been chosen for this role and I can't wait to start working with the other Young Ambassadors to encourage more people to play golf.
