The Girls Wyre & Fylde U14's Football tournament took place last week at Poolfoot Farm, the training ground for Fleetwood Town Football Club.

Going into the tournament the girls knew that they had tough games ahead!  The tournament set out was 5 teams per group with the top two teams from each group progressing to the semi-finals.

During the group stages the GCA team were undefeated and didn't concede a goal in any of the four matches.  The toughest game was against a strong Carr Hill side that GCA had lost to in a previous tournament - but on the day we played good football to gain a 2-0 win.

From this success GCA topped the goup to progress to the semi final against Lytham, who came second in their group.  The game was very close with goal attempts at both ends, but finally a deadlock was broken with the GCA  girls finding scoring form after a long spell. The game finished at 1-0.

In the final GCA played against Fleetwood.  Sadly, even with the girls battling and playing great football, they came unstuck and lost 5-2.

Overall the girls played exceptionally and really progressed through training, from the last tournament earning them the runners up title!  Great job!
