Twenty Year 8 students from Garstang Community Academy have been selected to take part in the Garstang Lego Space Challenge.

Students will compete in teams of 10 to decide which team will represent Garstang Academy and take part in the North West Final in May/June. Success in the North West Final will see our students travel to the Ricoh Arena in Coventry to compete in the National Challenge.

The challenge involves our students embarking on a number of space challenges designed by NASA and in partnership with The Helsington Foundation, The RAF and EEP the Elite Engineering Programme. This EEP Robotics Challenge will give students an insight into what engineering is all about and see some real life examples of engineering using robotics.

In their teams, students will design and program a Lego robot that will undertake 7 space missions developed by NASA using over £2000 worth of Lego.

Introducing our two teams… Satellite Squad and Apollo 13.  Updates on the progress of our students will be posted regularly on our school website.
